About "The Bag - Hope For Families In Uganda"

We support families and children in need

Our bags contain food, hygiene articles, clothing, school supplies, Bibles and Christian children's books as well as other everyday necessities such as mosquito nets, with the contents adapted to local circumstances. This helps families in specific areas to improve their living conditions. We believe that Jesus is our hope and we want to share this hope with people through conversations, spending time together and passing on God's word in the form of Bibles and Christian children's books.

The need for bags and the places to distribute the bags is determined locally in Uganda in cooperation with our friends from Uganda. We either already know local craftsmen and traders or coordinate with people who live there so that we can select suitable businesses.

We support working people in Uganda

By purchasing products from craftsmen, traders and farmers in Uganda and having the clothing made by Ugandan tailors, we want to support these small businesses in the long term. All the goods required for the bags are to be procured in Uganda. Of course, this depends on availability - not everything is available in every place. Sometimes the needs vary from place to place. If we cannot get things for the bag in Uganda, we buy them in Austria or Germany.

When distributing the bags, we rely on the help of local service providers, e.g. for transportation services.

By purchasing goods from Ugandan craftspeople and/or artists and selling them on at markets and events in Austria or Germany, we want to provide additional support for the people. For example, we have a potter in Kikondo who makes great things or we help single mothers by buying jewelry made by them. The proceeds from these sales then flow directly into our project.

We pass on the Christian faith

God wants all people to be saved. One of our tasks as Christians is Jesus' mission to bring people the good news, the gospel (Matthew 28:18-20).

We want to strengthen the faith of Christians in Uganda by giving them Bibles, for example - they are relatively expensive for the people there and are not available everywhere. It is therefore important for us to be of help there.

Activities in Austria and Germany

In addition to the “usual” association activities as we know them, we would like to organize Uganda evenings where we report on the country and its people. We also want to compile other information material and make it available.

One of our goals is to network and cooperate with other associations and organizations that pursue similar goals.

Perhaps in time we will be able to take part in national and international events such as congresses or trade fairs to exchange information and network. But that remains to be seen...

The association's activities are mainly financed by donations. In addition, through the sale of goods produced in Uganda (jewelry, pottery, paintings, ... local craftsmen / artists) at markets or other events. Of course, we are equally happy about any other kind of support.

Help us to help

Prayer

We believe that prayers work and therefore we are always happy to receive support in prayer.

Specifically, you can pray for...

  • for the many children in Uganda who are orphans or have only one parent
  • that God will strengthen the faith of the families and give them comfort and hope
  • that God will lead us to the right places and the right families who are in particularly urgent need of help
  • for protection and safety on our journeys
  • Josefine from near Jinja: That her arm will heal after the operation and that the family will still be able to raise the missing money.

Donations

With one bag...

  • you support a family for several days with food and hygiene articles
  • you give a child durable clothing
  • you give a family hope through faith in Jesus
  • you help craftsmen, farmers and traders directly in Uganda, who in turn feed their families with their income

A completely filled bag costs around 30 euros.
